Position Objective:

The Production Shift Leader is expected to meet the qualifications as outlined below.  This position is a vital part to the overall success of our organization as a manufacture of animal feed and nutrition products and services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising production standards.
  • Guide and direct employees on daily production requirements and job expectations
  • Enforce all required safety and operational policies.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for feed quality and production standards are properly followed.
  • Assist in employee development through completion of job orientation and necessary training of employees in all aspects of feed production.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring steps in the process, monitoring employees and providing required feedback and/or concerns to the Production Support Supervisor
  • Organizes and completes required production by scheduling and assigning personnel in daily priorities, resolving problems and reporting results.
  • Ensures proper operation of equipment, calling for repairs, as needed, and assist in the evaluation of new equipment for proper operation.
  • Maintain quality service by enforcing organizational and quality control standards.
  • Monitor the overall success of production areas and make necessary requests and/or adjustments to enhance the plants efficiencies and overall effectiveness.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all equipment and maintaining compliance with established procedures.
  • Ensure all employees on the shift a properly trained in safety requirements, procedures, and equipment operation.
  • Resolve employee issues and/or problems or seek assistance to do so.
  • Additional projects required and/or directed by the Production Support Supervisor, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school graduate, or 4-year degree, or demonstrated experience in supervisory functions.
  • Experience in production and/or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in leading and supervising 5-10 direct reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading and managing others.
  • Communication skills with the ability to build relationships in a group and one-on-one settings.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school graduate with demonstrated experience in supervisory functions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work the required hours of shift responsibilities.
  • Outstanding analytical skills and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated, works well in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail, communicating instructions effectively.
