National Account Manager

Position Objective:

The National Account Manager play a key role in supporting and driving sales of private label cattle nutrition solutions manufactured by Form-A-Feed, Inc. for Select Sires – Herd Management Solutions. The position partners with their national team to identify new clients and business opportunities while producing field level support to sales professionals across domestic and international markets.  Working in cooperation with internal teams and business partners, this role focuses on expanding market share and strengthening customer relationships. Responsibilities include but are not limited to conducting producer meetings, one-on-one consultations with representatives, conducting on-farm visits, and representing the company at national trade shows. Your goal is to assist in sourcing and developing new customers and work to build and cultivate new business relationships.  This role requires work in a fast paced, team centered environment, that will challenge you and allow you to use your experience and expertise to develop the company and enhance your continued growth within the animal feed and nutrition industry.  This role will require extensive travel.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn, understand, and communicate product knowledge and usage to customers.
  • Provide practical solutions and technical guidance to sales representatives and their customers
  • Proven ability to work and thrive in a B2B environment driving B2C sales.
  • Provide product expertise and advise representatives and customers on product usage and benefits for improved animal health.
  • Provide in-field, on-farm technical support for the customer’s national sales team.
  • Assist in securing new customers, building relationships and sourcing best practices.
  • Collaborate and share species expertise, sharing this knowledge with new and existing customers.
  • Develop business priorities that support species and company growth objectives.
  • Enhance industry education through industry training and development opportunities.
  • Participate in industry training and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the managers to assist in supporting sales goals and evaluate business progress
  • Share expertise and gather team member feedback, to enhance customer experience.
  • Communicate product knowledge and product innovation, outlining best practices.
  • Provide trouble-shooting support, communicating timely and effectively.
  • Effective presentation skills to deliver product presentations at producer and sales team meetings.
  • Effectively communicate business information regarding product performance, competitive product reviews, industry trends, etc.
  • Additional projects required or directed by Vice President of Sales or species team lead

Preferred Qualifications:

  • S. or M.S in Animal Science, Ag Business, and/or qualified experience in Dairy or Beef Science
  • 3 or more years of on-farm experience, or feed industry research or education experience in the species related field
  • Multi-year experience in animal feed sales and nutrition
  • Successful track record of problem solving and finding practical animal nutrition solutions.
  • Outstanding analytical skills and a strong customer service mindset
  • Analysis of risk, risk management in the animal feed industry
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication skills in a team setting and one-on-one meetings.
  • Technical and computer related skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Ability travel 70% or more to support business growth
