Swine Feeding Projections – June 11, 2018
Changes week over week:
- Open-market value of both weaned and feeder pigs was significantly softer (-$6.77 and -$5.83/head, respectively)
- Moderate gains in predicted lean hog values for both the October/November and September/October markets (+$1.85 and +$1.13/cwt, respectively).
- Feed costs -$2.50-3.00 per head: corn -$0.13/bushel, SBM -$18.25/ton, DDGS -$3.25/ton, lysine -$0.16/cwt, and fat +$0.55/cwt.
- Open-market weaned pig profitability improved substantially (+$13.00/head), but losses remain in the $10-12 range.
Feeder pig profitability also made a big move towards the black (+$11.00/head) with predicted margins on either side of break-even.
