Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Coordinator

The Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Coordinator is expected to meet the qualifications as outlined below.  This position is a vital part to the overall success of our organization as a manufacture of animal feed and nutrition products and services.

You will be proud to work for a company with a strong family history in the animal feed industry and opportunities to grow personally and professionally.  We are a company committed to family values, integrity, and innovation.  The objective of this position is to assist in the compliance and certification of our Quality Assurance program, tracking, assisting, and supporting our quality assurance activities and strategic projects.  You will work in cooperation with the Merchandising and Production teams, assisting in the integration of quality assurance activities that support our mission of quality products and innovative solutions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

75% Daily Quality Assurance Activities

  • Maintain quality testing programs on inbound ingredients monitoring results per the Food Safety Plan.
  • Maintain feed quality monitoring and appropriate testing procedures, as required.
  • Maintain and support the retained sample program for finished feed and ingredients.
  • Review drug and additive verification and updated reconciliation as required.
  • Assist customers, sales consultants, and production facilities with all quality concerns.
  • Investigate quality issues thoroughly to determine cause and mitigate loss, as appropriate.
  • Develop corrective actions for necessary adjustments and process improvements where needed.
  • Support production in all quality assurance measures and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor plant production to verify quality product production and appropriate procedures are followed.
  • Ensure FDA Drug sampling requirements are properly followed, with all results reviewed, and corrective actions executed, if needed.
  • Ensure regulatory manufacturing licenses and environmental permits are submitted annually, as appropriate.
  • Maintain all preventative controls and ensure annual PCQI training is completed.
  • Monitor product inventory ageing and corrective actions. Identify outdated inventory and disposal plan.
  • Additional projects required or directed by the Leadership Team.

25% Strategic Projects

  • Recommend and support 3rd Party compliance and certification audits including Safe Feed/Safe Food, HACCP & FSMA, as required.
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality System
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the Food Safety Plan.
  • SOP refinements and creation as needed by the business.
  • Continuous improvements projects as dictated by the business plan and market needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field, three years practical experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a team setting and one-on-one meetings.
  • Technical and computer related skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and industry software
  • Comprehensive understanding of merchandising, quality assurance detail and inventory management
  • Knowledge and experience with supply chain management
  • Analysis of risk, risk management with strong decision-making abilities, negotiating experience a plus
  • PCQI Certification desired or a willingness to get PCQI certified in first 6 months.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3+ years of practical experience in Quality Assurance or similar experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills with experience in quality initiatives and customer service
  • General understanding of merchandising, quality assurance detail and inventory management
  • Outstanding analytical skills and a strong customer service mindset
  • Some Travel required, minimal overnight travel.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed and works well in a team centered environment.
  • Selected candidate to work and office out of the corporate offices in Stewart, MN
