Position Objective:

The Accounting Assistant is expected to meet the qualifications as outlined below.  This position is a vital part to the overall success of our organization as a manufacture of animal feed and nutrition products and services.

You will be proud to work for a company with a strong family history in the animal feed industry and opportunities to grow personally and professionally.  In this position, you will be responsible for multiple companies assisting in accounting support functions, monthly journal entries, fixed asset management, monthly account reconciliations and state sales tax filings.

In this role you should be prepared to work in a fast paced, team centered environment that will challenge you and allow you to use your experience and expertise to develop the company and enhance your continued growth within the animal feed and nutrition industry.


This position reports to the VP Finance

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the VP of Finance in the primary role of invoicing
  • Perform pre-invoicing tasks such as posting manufacturing batches
  • Research inventory issues identified during the invoicing process
  • Required understanding of the accounting system and the flow of information.
  • Collaborate with other internal departments providing support and gathering of information, providing advice and assistance, as necessary
  • Additional accounting projects required or directed by the VP Finance, as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in qualified field
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience
  • Strong attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Creative, with a passion for detailed accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Technical and computer related skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office, proficient in Excel, specifically pivot tables
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School graduate with 2-year associates degree
  • Proven accounting experience
  • Strong attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Technical and computer related skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office, proficient in Excel
  • Understanding of general accounting procedures
  • Decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed and works well in a team centered environment
  • Selected candidate to work and office out of the corporate offices in Stewart, MN
