Swine Feeding Projections – October 30, 2017

Changes week over week:

  • Open-market purchase prices were stronger for both weaned and feeder pigs (+$2.84 and +$2.48 per head, respectively)
  • Predicted lean hog values were up moderately for both March/April (+$2.98/cwt) and February/March marketings (+$3.08/cwt).
  • Feed costs +$0.50 per head: corn -$0.04/bushel, SBM +$2.50/ton, DDGS +$3.25/ton, lysine +$0.78/cwt, and fat +$0.07/cwt.
  • The open-market weaned and feeder pig profit outlook improved (+$4.00 and +$3.50 per head, respectively) to the point where margins are into double digits across the board.
