Meet Form-A-Feed's Beef Intern: Allison VanDerWal

Form-A-Feed is excited to have Allison VanDerWal back for a second year as the Form-A-Feed Beef Intern! We asked Allison a few questions so you can get to know her:

Tell us a little about yourself: My name is Allison VanDerWal. I grew up on my family’s crop and feedlot farm by Sanborn, Minnesota. I was always more involved in my family’s cattle operation which helped develop my passion for cattle. From a young age I was involved in dance and was a 4-H member in Redwood county. I kept busy during the summer raising and showing cattle, livestock judging and helping on the farm.

University attending: This fall I will be a Senior at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities

Major(s): Animal Science with an emphasis in Beef Production

What activities are you involved in on or off campus: On campus I am a member of the Block and Bridle club, an executive member of the Minnesota Royal, a sister of the Delta Theta Sigma fraternity as well as an undergraduate lab technician in the beef ruminant nutrition lab.

What are you most excited about learning/doing in your internship with Form-A-Feed this summer? This summer I am excited about expanding my knowledge when it comes to consulting and ruminant nutrition. I am excited to apply the concepts I have learned through schooling in everyday production practices and projects I have been assigned for this summer.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: I do not have my ears pierced at 21 years of age.

What is one thing on your bucket list? One thing on my bucket list is to ski as many, if not all, ski resorts in the US. My Godparents have a similar goal and I have been privileged to tag along to some resorts already!
