form-a-feed swine conference

We are continuing to make our Professional Swine Conference bigger and better each year.  2015’s Swine Conference was no exception as we offered two days of activities, networking, and educational speakers in beautiful Okoboji, IA.

On day one, the morning rain held up in the afternoon as speakers, sponsors, and producers enjoyed a round of golf or trap shooting.  After the afternoon activities, attendees ate a delicious pork chop dinner at Okoboji Boatworks , provided by Lynch Livestock.  Attendees then were able to enjoy the scenery of Okoboji on a boat cruise around the lake.

On day two, the agenda was packed with relevant swine topics. Kicking off the morning was Steve Dziver, owner of Commodity Professionals, who spoke on risk management and filled us in on the current market situation and how it applies to swine producers.  Next, Dr. Brad Lawrence, Technical Manager for Novus addressed grow/finish pigs and trace mineral nutrition and Dr. Doug Groth, DVM of Carthage Veterinary Service covered the gut health challenges that have been happening in the industry in grow/finish pigs.  To wrap-up our conference, Dr. Fellipe Freitas Barbosa from EW Nutrition educated attendees on the importance of gut immunity in nursery pigs.

Thank you to all producers who attended this year’s Swine Conference and a special thank you to our sponsors: Adisseo, Arm & Hammer, Canadian Bio-Systems, Dosto Farm, EW Nutrition, Kemin, Lynch Livestock, Novus, Wilbur-Ellis, Co-op Elevator Association, Elanco, Lallemand Animal Nutrition, Merck, Nutriad, Phibro, PIC, Topig, and Zoetis.
